Frequently Asked Questions
I'm not sure if I am Trans or not - can you help me?Yes. Many of my clients come to me for exactly that reason: our first task together is then to help them find out!
What is my commitment if I come to see you?
The first session is always without commitment on either side and is primarily for us to explore how we might work together to overcome whatever problems you have and move forward. It is also for you to judge if you would feel comfortable working with me.
Do you have evening or weekend appointments available?
I have a limited number of evening appointments but do not see clients at weekends.
What if I cannot get to London?
I am able to work with clients by telephone or via the internet using SKYPE. Ideally I would like us to meet for an initial face to face session first but recognise that this is not always possible.
What is the difference between Transexual and Transgender etc.?
The language around gender seems to change rapidly but this is how I use the words:
I use Transexual to mean someone who is either intending to go through, is in the process of going through, or has already been through, a medical process to physically alter their body to bring its gender into line with their true or "psychological" gender. I use the word Transgendered much more widely to include transexuals and others who may feel that they have the wrong body but do not choose to go through a medical process. It might also include people who do not identify as either "male" or "female". I use the term Trans even more broadly to include all the above plus cross-dressers ("Transvestites").
I am not Transgendered - I was born with an intersex condition - can you still help me?
I am very aware of the possible stress of living with an ambiguous gender and the difficulties which have been caused by ill-advised and premature surgery. Everyone is different and the first session is always to meet each other and explore whether, and how, I could help.
How much will it cost?
My standard fee for a 50 minute sesion is £75.00 but I try to ensure that clients with "trans" issues are not prevented from seeing me by financial considerations so if you have a limited income we will agree a fee that you are comfortable with.
What if I have more questions?
For reliable information about trans-gender issues I recommend The Gender Trust website - just Click here and then go to the "information" page. See my "Links" page on this website for other resources.
